Quito is one of the most intriguing and charming cities in Latin America. It has retained the Incan culture along with the Spanish culture to form a unique community. Quito is located in a beautiful valley surrounded by snow-capped peaks of the Andes. In spite of the fact that Quito is close to the equator, the temperature year round is spring-like. Quito is said to be the best preserved city according to UNESCO and it is full of cobblestone streets, Baroque churches and monuments, spacious squares and government buildings as well as parks. Interspersed among the monuments are Indian markets which is in contrast to the spacious squares and government buildings. Quito's central location makes travel around Ecuador easy and a trip to the famous Galápagos Islands, where one can see nature at its very best, is a quick plane ride away.
