Sevilla, Spain
Sevilla is the fourth largest city in Spain and it is definitely the center of flamenco dancing, Andalusian sun and hospitality. Even though Sevilla is a large city, it has the warmth and intimacy of a small town. Its history stems from the Roman invasions, to the rich architecture of the Moors, the Christian Reconquest (Reconquista). Sevilla is a mosaic that reflects the old Jewish quarter, the Barrio de Santa Cruz, the Alcazar, an enchanting Moorish castle and of course the Christian cathedral, now the largest in the world. It is interesting to know that at one time, the Jews, the Moors and the Christians lived in Sevilla in a convivial setting. Some of the traditions are the celebration of Semana Santa (Holy Week) where there are processions and flamenco ferias. The sumptuous cuisine, a tapas culture, terraces (terrazas) for dancing and a lively nightlife with the most authentic flamenco dancing in Spain make up the fabric of the city. Study in Sevilla and live the culture!
